How to Build an Inexpensive Door Panel Tension Machine

This video will show you how to build your own door panel tensioning machine to save damaged doors that would usually be considered unrepairable. Using tension correctly is one of the old school methods of quickly fixing badly damaged panels without fillers.

Material List for Tension Machine

36 feet of 2 inch square steel tubing

15 feet of 2.25 inch sleeve material for the 2” square tubing
note: This may be more expensive than the 2” stock as it is usually a non-standard special order item.

(1) 6 inch piece of 2.5 inch X 3/16 thickness square tubing. Use 1/4 inch thickness if it gives a tighter fit as ID varies a bit between steel makers

(10) 4 inch gussetts

4 feet of 1/8 inch thick X 4 inch flat stock

15 inches of 1/8 inch thick X 3 inch flat stock

(1) 3 inch diameter X 2 inch inside diameter washer

(4) hardened ½ inch rods for pulling cut to desired length

(4) 4 inch full casters

35) 1/2 inch X 1 inch length Grade 8 bolts and nuts

(12) ½ inch washers and 6 lock washers

(4) Heavy Duty Ratcheting tie down straps
