BMW E92 RACP Repair

Don't panic! The E90 E91 E92 E93 doesn't have traditional RACP problems like the E46!
This was just a slightly unusual case where the RACP of this BMW E92 had to be taken apart to retrieve a snapped Subframe Bolt.

Hardly anyone has seen inside an E9x RACP and I expect a lot of people will be keen to see how BMW improved on the Threaded Receiver stabilization design on the next generation E9x compared to all the problems the E46 has.

Using our vast BMW chassis knowledge we were able to carefully dissect the Left Rear corner of the E92 RACP (Rear Axle Carrier Panel) and then remove the Threaded Receiver which contained the snapped bolt.

We fabricated an exact replica Threaded Receiver in-house which we welded to the original Platform, then back into the Chassis Leg from inside the boot/trunk (using a Subframe Jig), and finally reinstalled and welded the outer RACP skin back on.

Naturally, our high standards were transferred to this vehicle when it came to corrosion protection and visual finish too.
We used POR-15 Metal Prep, Weld Thru Primer, Etch Primer, High Build Primer, Sprayable Seam Sealer, Redish E-coat Top Colouring, then Internal Cavity Wax to finish.

This was a great success and we achieved an original look under the vehicle and inside the boot/trunk area too.

A new Subframe Bolt, and Washer were installed and torqued to BMW spec and then the car was roadtested before handing back to the owner.
