TEMPORARY SAGGING CAR HEADLINER FIX - Twist Pins or Staples 📌 (DON'T ADD GLUE!)
DON'T JUST ADD GLUE, WHY? Because it can damage the roof board, add imperfections, increase time to repair, increase overall cost, and hinder the outcome of getting it professionally repaired one day.
First, you need to replace with new foam backed headlining material / fabric by cleaning off the old crumby foam. Only then is it ideal to add new adhesive.
I'd recommend getting it repaired with new fabric/glue. However, here are my suggestions for short-term solutions to hold up a saggy roof liner:
#1 Avoid anything that will compromise the safety of yourself and passengers in the car, for example, drawing pins, thumb tacks, pins as these could all run the risk of coming loose and falling down. If landing on infants, pets, babies, and toddlers, we now run the risk of them ingesting these harmful items.
So possibly a suggestion to a safer short-term solution is Twist pins,
TWIST PINS can secure themselves into the headliner board. Double-sided tape could work in some sections. Also, the use of office staples can do a good job holding the fabric up until a full repair can be done. Note: Usually, wagons/hatchbacks may potentially have rear windshield washer hose running on the headliner, and piercing the board may run the risk of puncture. It's super rare, but a possibility. Also, most cars have wiring stuck to the board, which can pose another concern if accidentally hit and possibly earthing out the system blowing the fuse. Once again, it's a rare chance.
Or we have also seen adding headliner adhesive to hold up old saggy material that can wreck the board in some cases or cause more work for the professional repair to be accomplished.
