Renault Megane 2 interior blower / fan issues - bad blower resistor

This weekend was rather busy for me, first I decided it is time to replace subframe bushing (not the thing you would like to do, if you care about your time) and meantime my interior blower stopped working at all!

video to how to remove air blower:
and how to get out the motor it self:

So here is a video how I diagnosed the problem and fixed it!

And yeah, I kind a didnt think it is resistor so I obviously took a part everything to get out blower which in the end was completely fine, however testing and knowing a few things I had before, like if I turned blower to 4th speed car started to smell like something is burning, so I kind a did this and could a lot easier see what is going on, where one wire to another and I stumble to rather hot blower resistor wire!

After removing the connector it was obvious that smell came from it and it kind a had issue where two connectors where shorting (not sure what caused it, maybe some arc or plastic got brittle with time and broke at some point) .
So obviously I removed the resistor itself and since I dont have equipment to fix it (bcos I got feeling that maybe it wasnt totally broken, just had issued with couple of shorting cables) I had to buy a new one! Sadly I could not get at that moment wiring harness with connector for the other melted end so U cleaned it, put some isolation between the two shorting cables and gave a go what resulted with properly working fan, no more overheating of any cables and no more burning odor.

This obviously might not be your case, but I hope my video might be helpful just in case you have same symptoms and you want to figure out what is causing the problems.

p.s. the blower resistor it self is located right above the air filter so the resistor is not in environment where nothing can happen with it! And yeah if you have some dirt's in the saloon air filter space and you cant get to them, this is a hole where you can reach the end of that apartment, however not with hand.
