The video shows contractors using the dry-mix shotcrete (ie gunite) process to complete concrete construction and concrete repair projects. Projects include two gunite pool projects and a concrete silo repair. The C-10 gunite machine conveys dry materials (sand/cement) through material hose to the nozzle where water is added and concrete material is placed on the construction surface. Batch plants are used on the projects including the Mix-Elvator and Airplaco 914. The batch plants allow contractors to control all aspects of their material production and delivery. Contractors do not have to rely on ready-mix trucks, for example. The contractors mix bulk sand/aggregates with bags of cement by using the batch plant all-hydraulic systems. The batch plants also offer pre-dampening of materials my means of a spray bar mounted above the mix auger. Production rates for batch plants range from 12-20 yards per hour and gunite machines are able to output up to 15 yards per hour. Production depends on material specifications, line size and distance. The C-10 features 9 HP air motor, tilt-hopper, premium life feed system, exclusive six-point pad hold down system, exhaust suppression and external felt seal oil slots for convenience.
