Faulty Fuel Pump Results In Severe Engine Power Loss & Starting Trouble.
We had this 2013 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire visit one of our MotoFyx car reapir workshops for an annual service along with concerns relating to that of the car taking a longer self while starting. Not only was there poor fuel efficiency being observed, but also there was severe engine power loss being noticed while driving the car. Unable to drive the car in such a condition and since the car hadn’t been serviced for little over a year, the car owner reached out to us for assistance.
Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, beginning with the car’s ignition coil, spark plugs and all the electrical’s were all found to be in good shape, however further diagnosis revealed the starting trouble to be on account of low fuel pressure. The fuel pump in the car had failed due to which the pump was unable to pump adequate fuel at the required pressure onto the fuel injectors resulting in trouble starting the car and the subsequent power loss being observed on account of inadequate fuel supply to the car’s engine.
*Function of the fuel pump:
- Fuel pump draws fuel from the fuel tank through the fuel line and delivers it through a fuel filter onto the fuel injectors and finally to the engine cylinder chamber for combustion
*Symptoms of a faulty fuel pump:
- Noise from the fuel tank
- Difficulty in starting the car
- Sputtering car engine
- Power loss
- Low fuel efficiency
*Solution:
- The fuel tank was dismantled in order to clean the entire tank off any dirt and debris which could result in failure of the fuel pump in the long run
- The faulty fuel pump was replaced with a new fuel pump assembly.
