First, gather all the necessary tools and materials, including a wrench, an oil filter wrench, a drain pan, a new oil filter, and the recommended oil for your RAV4.
Next, make sure your vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool. Pop open the hood and locate the oil cap. Remove it to allow the oil to drain more smoothly.
Now, go underneath your RAV4 and find the oil drain plug. Position the drain pan underneath, then use the wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug. Let the old oil drain out completely, ensuring a clean and efficient oil change.
While the old oil is draining, it's time to replace the oil filter. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old filter. Be careful as some oil may still be trapped inside. Now, take your new oil filter and coat the rubber gasket with a thin layer of new oil. Hand-tighten the new filter in place.
