BSPP VS BSPT VS NPT

This video looks at three different types of pipe threads. British Parallel Pipe, or BSPP, is the easiest to identify, because the threads are straight, not tapered. This type of thread seals with either an o-ring at the base of the fitting or a 60 cone on the inside of the fitting. The other two types of pipe threads are tapered and require nothing other than the threads to seal against hydraulic pressure. BSPT and NPT threads are so similar, sometimes the only way to tell them apart is to have a thread pitch gauge. Another clue is to know what type of machine you're working on. NPT threads are slightly bigger than BSPT, so they won't screw into a BSPT port more than a few threads. Be careful!!! #carolinahydraulichose #bspp #bspt #npt
