Audi Q5 brake pads warning on MID | Audi brake repair | Brembo brake pads | MotoFyx #shorts
We had this 2016 Audi Q5 visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service along with a concern relating to that of braking inefficiency along with a peculiar noise upon braking & warning light on MID .The car was sparingly used over the past few months, recently when the car was used there were noises being observed while braking and the brake pedal was reportedly hard and ineffective in efficiently stopping the car, resulting in longer stopping distance. Concerned about driving the car in such a state and as the annual service was also around the corner, the car owner reached out to us for immediate assistance.
Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, an initial road trial did indicate poor braking performance. While performing the annual service it was observed that the front pad friction material was not only on the verge of wearing out but also had become hard, on account of inferior frictional material used in them thereby lowering the frictional grip upon braking. The front brake discs in the process had developed uneven wear by means of being in contact with the brake pads. While the front brake pads required immediate replacement, the front brake disc also required replacement due to low thickness
*Function of brake pads:
- Brake pads are frictional shoe materials located on both sides of the disc rotor inside a caliber clamp to stop the motion and bring the car to rest
- When brakes are hydraulically applied, the calliper clamps squeeze the two pads together onto the spinning rotor in order to slow/stop the car
*Symptoms of worn-out brake pads:
- Squealing noise while braking
- Ineffective braking
- Burning smell upon braking
- Vibrations
- Spongy brake pedal
*Solution:
- Front & rear brake disc was replaced
- The worn out front & rear brake pads were replaced with new brake pads
- Annual service was performed
