2011-2015 Chevrolet Cruze Coolant Leak Location and Repair
Car over heated and gave me an alert that the air conditioning was being shut off to stop the over heating. I thought that was strange because i was running the heat at the time and not the air conditioning. I did notice prior to the alert coming on and car over heating that the heat was having trouble getting hot. I also noticed earlier in the month that the heat was not heating well.
Turns out a common hose failure on these first generation cruzes was the culprit.
The recommended coolant for these first generation cruzes (and most gm vehicles) is Dex Cool. Dex Cool is not a brand. It is a type of coolant. Dex Cool is orange where regular antifreeze is yellow/green.
Watch and find out how to fix. I’m sorry for the video being sideways! I didn’t realize it until i had already finished the job, had the new parts on the car and thrown the old ones away. There is still great information in this video though!
Link To Purchase Coolant Water Outlet (this is what the hose above clips into. A lot of times this part cracks and leaks over time due to heat from the water and part being plastic):
try this one if the first one is out of stock. Just $2.00 more and still free shipping:
