RESURFACING BMW E34 DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL A 4-USD LATHE JOB IN SRI LANKA [DMF][TMF] [E34 518i][5'][5er]

Flywheels get uneven surfaces over the years of use and ultimately start to show the wear and tear in terms of jerks, jolts and poor power transmission. There can be few reasons to blame, unevenness of the surface due to wearing, poor tension in arc springs, clogged debris, mechanical breakages etc. are among them. You can go for a replacement yes but resurfacing is a low cost solution that allows you roll few more long years.
There are single mass flywheels with less issues yes but they too require resurfacing. Dual or Twin Mass Flywheels (DMFs or TMFs) are basically two metal masses/ discs named primary flywheel and secondary flywheel joined together via a mechanism where the mutually opposite rotation has been made limited and softened through special set of springs called Arc Springs. This way when you shift gears, the sudden jerk caused by clutch plate and flywheel touching each other can be softened. The jerk is perfectly absorbed by the arc springs in between two discs of flywheel so that the passengers in the car experience a soft gear shift.
Resurfacing involves that your lathe technician properly align the flywheel and removing a very thin layer from the secondary flywheel's surface that contacts with clutch plate. This way the bumps or the unevenness on surface can be alleviated assuring proper friction.
This repair gives you an almost brand new flywheel although you cannot completely eliminate issues it caused due to problems with for example mechanical failure. In my case most of the problems I had are gone now even after months of use.
A note regarding Mr. Wimal, many people I know recommended this guy for his skillfulness in the trade. The moment I went there he didn't even give me a glance and behaved like he wouldn't care even if I leave. But later, once he sent all his then clients, he took over mine and started working on it and by and by started talking. Couldn't he figure out the unit was of two parts, he would've stayed silent all the way up to the finish. This guy did the job really well and charged just 640 SLR which is about 6.4USD. Looking at my broken pressure plate which I had bought a replacement for, he said he could even fix it.
