Airborne 03.08.19: TBM 940 Unveiled, ForeFlight Acquired, PAL-V Production Model
Daher has unveiled their highly automated TBM 940, raising the bar, significantly, with the integration of an autothrottle and automatic deicing system. The 940 succeeds the current TBM 930 as their upper-end product. The standout TBM 940 feature is an autothrottle – reportedly the first installed on this category. Fully integrated with its autopilot, the single lever autothrottle automatically adjusts the aircraft’s speeds based on the preset flight profile, while engine parameters are displayed via a single ‘smart’ gauge. It was only a matter of time... but Boeing has announced the completion of its acquisition of ForeFlight, a provider of mobile and web-based aviation applications. ForeFlight has partnered with Boeing for the past two years to bring aviators Jeppesen's aeronautical data and charts through ForeFlight's mobile platforms. Now, the teams will integrate to bring expanded digital solutions to all segments of the aviation industry. A vehicle touted as the world's first production model flying car has been unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) 2019.
