Right at the end of Lesney's existence, this along with several other classic and vintage cars joined the Matchbox 1-75 series. Entering at number 47F, the SS 100 Jaguar among others looked to be the beginning of Lesney blurring the lines between their mainline and Models of Yesteryear ranges.
So alongside models like the Ford Model A Van and the '33 Willys Street Rod came a casting of a 1936-1939 SS 100 Jaguar, a car which was one of the very first to bear the Jaguar name and possess the leaping Jaguar hood ornament. SS Cars were the precursor to what became Jaguar Cars in 1945.
This casting was in a poor state, with bubbling, blistering paint and a skewed window surround. The plastic part that makes up the grille, headlights and window is a great piece and helps liven the front end immensely. The same can't be said about the rear, which looks like a bit of an afterthought. Regardless, I ploughed on with my restoration to bring some sparkle back to this 30s roadster.
