In this week video we have the 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK 170 back to change the door lock and also take care of a BAS ESP light on the dash mainly when cold and after a while it would go away cycling the ignition.
After scanning the car and looking into the live data it was easy to determine that the B24/2 ESP Lateral Acceleration Sensor was faulty, a really common problem with this sensors where solder joints cracks and fail but when warmed up it works fine.
I'll take through the process of opening the sensor, re-solder the chip and i also show how you can re-pot with some electronic encapsulating potting resin.
