2018 Elantra (ADA) Front Brake Replacement - Auto Repair

Starting off with a quick health report with the Zurich ZR Pro, followed by a simple front brake pad and rotor replacement on a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, on a 90°F July day. The pavement is hot enough for my jack stands to sink in, so I support them on a set of old rotors. The car needs to sit a bit higher for this arrangement, so jacking it up for the second stand, the car shifted enough to need re-centering of the first stand. Every step you'll need to know, except re-lubing the caliper slide pins (moved easily with no boot seal compromise, so no reason to disturb them)

TORQUE SPECS:
17mm Caliper Bracket bolts: 58-72 ft/lbs
14mm Caliper bolts: 16-23 ft/lbs

10mm Bleed Screw: 5-9 ft/lbs
Brake line Banjo bolt: 18-21 ft/lbs

Auto repairs for the "Do-it-yourself" mechanic... These are "HOW-TO" videos, that show viewers details of what is involved in a specific repair... some do's and don'ts, as well as a variety of tips to make the repair easier. Warning: Some videos may contain material that qualifies as "other than normally accepted".

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actron(s) DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.
