Why are Auto Rickshaws painted green? | Skill-Lync
You know fossil fuels are having an adverse effect on our environment.
So, what do you think the solution is?
Yes, it is the usage of alternative fuels.
In our previous video, we spoke about a type of alternative fuel called Natural Gas.
In today’s video we will be talking about its compressed version of the gas at a pressure of 20 - 25Mpa. This compressed gas is called CNG or Compressed Natural Gas.
The supreme court of India has ordered the usage of CNG for transports like Buses, trucks, auto-rickshaws, etc in many cities. This is because CNG has certain benefits over the other fuels. CNG is cost-efficient. Compressed Natural Gas almost saves 50% of the money over gasoline.
CNG is also eco-friendly and non-toxic because it doesn't have lead content and the pollutants emitted are less. Zero lead content in Compressed Natural Gas, helps in extending the life of spark plugs. Similarly, it does not react with metal parts and extends the life of the engine parts. the maintenance cost of CNG fueled vehicles is less
The pre-ignition tendency of CNG is very less. This improves the anti-knocking quality of Compressed Natural Gas. The thermal efficiency of an engine running on CNG is high. Compressed Natural Gas is lighter than air.
But Compressed Natural Gas has its own set of disadvantages. CNG is odourless and it is very difficult to detect any leakage. A lot of space is consumed by Compressed Natural Gas cylinders. The gas filling stations for CNG are limited in India.
In this video, we will also be talking about the engine layout of Compressed Natural Gas and its working.
