Repair & Servicing Our 1970s International Yard Crane! | Fixing a Blown Head Gasket
Our 50 year old International 4030 Yard Crane hasn’t been sounding the best so it’s time to fix her up! We need to replace a blown head gasket and do a service by replacing all the oil and filters. First, we give it a wash down before disassembling everything to remove the cylinder head from the motor. We remove the injectors from the cylinder head before giving it a clean up. Then we install the new head gasket and reassemble the motor before replacing all of the coolant, oil and filters. After we get it fired up and the motor running, we check the rocker arms and valve clearances before finish assembling the rest of the parts back onto the motor. We’d say this was a successful job done to our Old girl and it’s going to be sad to see her go!
