In this video, we feature an underwater pipe live leak repair with Belzona 1212. The video demonstrates a method of stemming a live leak with a cold-curing surface-tolerant epoxy composite. No welding or specialist tools are needed for this repair.
Belzona 1212 is a 2-part surface-tolerant epoxy composite engineered specifically for in-situ application to wet, oil contaminated and underwater surfaces. This multi-purpose solvent-free material exhibits rapid cure and excellent adhesion to manually prepared substrates, where grit blasting cannot be achieved.
Belzona 1212 is specifically designed for the repairs on wet, sweating or oil-contaminated pipes, as well as pipes located underwater.
Step-by-step application procedure:
1. Clean the repair area to shear away any rust or debris from the pipe.
2. Thoroughly mix Belzona 1212 following Belzona Instructions for Use for the correct mixing ratio. Make sure the mixed material achieves a homogenous color.
3. With a short-bristled brush, apply a copious amount of the mixed material onto the back of the bi-pass plate.
4. Apply a generous amount of the mixed material onto the prepared area of the pipe.
5. Position the bi-pass to align it with the leak and press down.
6. Secure the plate with zip ties and remove excess material.
7. Once cured, insert the plug to secure the leak.
