π§ Here we have a mini countrymen cooper S come in for water leak testing. It has been driving the customer mad trying to find the leak, and he has removed most of the interior heβs self. Under further inspection, there is a problem with the driver's rear door membrane, which is allowing water to pass into the car onto the driver's rear foot well and working its way to the front floorboards. As we can see in the video there are a lot of electrical cables and fuse box, where the rain water is collecting will eventually cause mould and corrosion and electrical problems if itβs left. The solution to this problem is an easy fix... we just remove the door panel and make a new door membrane from plastic sheeting, which is then bonded in place to make the door waterproof again. From there it's just a matter of drying the car out, which we do with dehumidifiers and hot air blowers.

β‘ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
π₯Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain air bags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
β£οΈ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.
