Ladies and Gentleman welcome back to another adventure in the life of the Old Time Rock and Roller. Today's story will take us back to August 18th 1977. My band The Force had just played the Hollywood Palladium and it was time for a break. I had been going hard in Los Angeles the last 4 years. So I booked a flight to visit my dad in Tuscaloosa Alabama. After planting potatoes with hi one Wednesday he said what to you want to do tomorrow? I said I want you to drive me to Muscle Shoals the hit recording capital of the world. He said I hadn't heard about that. And away we go.
Bob Segers Old Time Rock and Roll is the biggest record I played on. I went to Rick Hall's Fame studio, Clayton Ivy's studio called Wishbone, and at the end of the street on Jackson Highway is Muscle Shoals Sound. Before we get started I have to give a huge thank you to Muscle Shoals Swampers and Jimmy Johnson who gave me this opportunity. The Tom Cruise Risky Business dance scene launched him to movie stardom. It was the CNN Song of the Decade and it's being broadcast on a rocket ship the Voyagers to alien worlds. Never did I imagine that I would play the solo on the Number 1Juke Box song in Rock and Roll History and have my solo played in other galaxies. Jimmy produced the session Roger Hawkins played drums, David Hood Bass, Randy McCormick piano, Bob Seger Vocals, Forrest Howie McDonald lead guitar, Kenny Bell rhythm guitar.
