Changing the Final Drive Oil - CAT 299D

It's messy and challenging sometimes, but making sure your oil and fluid levels are maintained is an important chore for the health of your vehicle!

Changing the Final Drive oil is a straight forward process; it's important to run the vehicle for a few minutes to warm the liquid so it will flow out correctly. Working on a flat level driveway makes it a lot easier, and try to have extra buckets and cleaning rags handy for the inevitable mess.

I also used masking tape to help control the oil drain, and had some plastic funnels & hose to make refilling a little easier. It's important to service these fluids every 500 Hours of use, it's far easier to maintain than to have to replace!

Today I had some helpers, but please know that this was filmed before the COVID pandemic, which is why we're not wearing masks.
