Many people have asked us for a separate video to show the EARLY style BMW 088/089 Copper & Lead rod bearings.
So here it is!
Sensibly, he wanted to replace the Rod Bearings as preventative maintenance as he'd heard they are a weak point of the S65 engine.
He was right to do that as you can clearly see they've worn through the Lead layer, and well into the Copper layer.
It's hard to say how long these bearings had left as it all depends on how the car is driven, but they may not have survived another 10,000 miles (making the car 67,000 miles old) for example.
(This is just our estimate - it could be more, it could be less).

Along with new ACL Rod Bearings, BMW Bolts, Sump Gasket, Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Oil Pipe O-rings, PAS Fluid, PAS Seal Rings, we also replaced the Engine Mounts as these are very common to be found in poor condition.
