Long answer: AC would blow ice cold while driving but stop working when car idled for awhile at a stop light. Tried to check Freon level using the sight glass. But the AC compressor would not engage while we stood there and had the AC on full max and freon hose attached to charge the system.
While this was going on the fans would cut in/out. At least 1 fan should have been on full time when the AC was on. I did not know this at the time.
Then the fans stopped working completely. While the car idled my buddy spun the passenger's side fan and it started spinning. So now we are sure we found the issue and have ordered a new fan assembly.
All this time the coolant gauge on the dash showed normal, no check engine light came on and no trouble codes were thrown.
