The Ferrari Driver Academy juniors: Where are they now?
Sebastian Vettel once said, “Everyone is a Ferrari fan; even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans.”. With its history and legacy of success, engineering excellence, and passion, it’s no wonder that every driver finds themselves magnetised towards the Scuderia. And a good way to get started if you want to build a successful collaboration with that team, is to join the Ferrari Driver Academy. In the past 20 years, driver academies intended for nurturing the Formula 1 stars of the future have become very en vogue. Previously, I’ve covered all members of the Red Bull Junior Team, which apparently any old sod can join, but when it comes to Ferrari, they are rather more selective with their recruitment, and have also has a longstanding relationship with racing team Prema.
As of me writing this script, the Ferrari Driver Academy currently has six members. Of the 20 former members that have come and gone since 2009, six of them eventually made it to Formula 1. Not bad going. So, let’s see what they’re all up to these days.
