Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hitch Adapter 2" to 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver, Part Number 80300. As you can see, my hitch adapter is going to turn my 2" receiver into an 1-1/4" receiver, allowing me to use 1-1/4" accessories. We're using a cargo carrier with our adapter here, but this is also going to work great with your bike racks or ball mounts, or any other 1-1/4" accessories. It's a more economical solution to having 2 bike racks and 2 cargo carriers when you have 2 different vehicles and it is certainly less expensive than buying another hitch. It gives us 7" from the center of one hitch pin hole to the other, giving us an extension as well. Keep in mind that with a hitch adapter your towing capacity will be limited to either 50% of the towing capacity of your trailer hitch, your vehicle's towing capacity per your owner's manual, or 3,500 pounds, whichever is lowest. Your tongue weight is limited to the lower of the following: 50% of the tongue weight of your trailer hitch or 300 pounds, whatever's lowest. Keep in mind the pin and clips are not included. You'll need a PC2, which is going to be your 1/2" pin and clip for your adapter side and for your hitch side you'll need a PC3, which is going to be your 5/8" pin and clip.
