Restoring the $1 Yellowed Sega Dreamcast Controller - Restoration & Repair - ASMR
I show you how to remove the yellowing from vintage plastics with the Retr0bright method.
This time I restored the Original Sega Dreamcast Controller it is quite badly yellowed and dirty both inside and outside and that won't turn on and that is yellowed. I bought this controller as junk from eBay.
I feel the controller is very simple compared to the Playstation controller, even though the original controller is not quite as advanced as the DualShock I've restored on this channel. Just a few screws holding the case closed.

How to Remove Yellow Stains from Plastic
Whether they're from foods, sunlight, or chemical reactions, yellow stains often show up on plastic. There are many ways you can try to tackle these stains, such as soaking the plastic in bleach, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide
All the electronic components were cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Mine is over 99%. It has almost no waster so it wont corrode the boards. Alcohols are also good at dissolving both water and oil soluble substances. After everything was nice and looking new I let it dry (after washing the h2o2 off) and put it back together.
Coat the plastic in hydrogen peroxide to fix discoloration. Hydrogen peroxide works well on plastics that have turned entirely yellow instead of in just one spot. Fill a plastic bag with enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the plastic. Stick the plastic in the bag of hydrogen peroxide and lay it out in direct sunlight. Wait 3-4 hours before rinsing it off with clean water.[5]
You can purchase hydrogen peroxide at a drugstore or big box store.
If you’re treating some sort of plastic mechanism, make sure you remove all the parts that aren’t plastic before putting them into the hydrogen peroxide.
You can also use an old toothbrush to scrub the hydrogen peroxide onto the plastic if desired
