Discover how our Accumin™ automatic lubricators saved this mine site over AUD$120k a year
Mine sites are some of the most rugged environments in the world, making proper lubrication of minerals processing equipment, including slurry pumps, vital for survival in such harsh conditions.
SIMEC's site in Whyalla, South Australia primarily processes a type of iron ore called magnetite, the abrasiveness of which makes it challenging to maintain plant availability, throughput and performance.
Focused on increasing throughput in order to achieve record production, the SIMEC Whyalla team took advantage of a free condition monitoring check offered by Weir Minerals, which identified an impending hydrocyclone feed pump failure before it could eventuate.
The team performed a rebuild of the Warman® pump, and installed our Accumin™ automatic lubrication system to prevent the issue from reoccurring . Accumin™ lubricators are guaranteed to deliver the correct amount of grease to the pump's bearing assembly at automated intervals, preventing equipment failure.
After trialling Accumin™ on one of the Whyalla site's largest Warman® pumps, the SIMEC team was so impressed they installed the product on a number of their other pumps. Since then, none have experienced any bearing barrel problems and SIMEC has saved over AUD$120k a year in maintenance costs.
