The Last HEMI - Segment 14 - Restoring the Undercarriage

When restoring a car to OEM specifications, it's easy to get lost in the details. For the Last HEMI, the most recent quandary came in the form an improperly formed crease on the undercarriage. It's a small detail that few will ever notice but the conversation it spurred got downright existential. If a flaw was built into the car from the factory, is it more correct to fix the flaw or leave it as it left the assembly line?

The car's other flaws were easier calls. Damage from bottoming out? Pitting? Dents from improper lifting? Sure, fix it all -- It's just that crease that threw us for a temporary loop. After consulting with the owner, the decision was made to go ahead and correct the issue, as better-than-new is the overall goal for the car. Still, it's easy to understand the other side of the argument.

Once the underside is 100% flaw-free, it will be the suspension's turn in the spotlight. Stay tuned! Visit for complete info on the full restoration of the Last HEMI to roll out of a Chrysler plant during the Muscle Car era.
