LR3 Oil Leak on Valve Cover / Replace the VVT Solenoid Seal
A common oil leak on the Land Rover LR3 with the 4.4 L engine is at the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid (VVT.) The VVT Solenoid protrudes out of the valve covers, it is located towards the front of the engine. The solenoid is sealed to the valve cover with a small round seal. This seal is prone to leaking and is easily replaced. The seal is easily pried up and off of the solenoid.
The seal is a shared part among Ford, Lincoln, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. The seal can be found at Amazon for around $10 each:
