Liability Waivers And Release Forms: How To Cover Your Assets.
Having a well-written Release of Liability Waiver Form signed before you do any high-risk job during the move is the smartest thing you can do.
Personally, my company will not disconnect any gas, water or electric lines. We will not remove anything that is fastened to the wall directly. And under any circumstances will we ever drive on a customers lawn.
But sometimes you may want to do this to keep your customer happy. I get that. But there is a lot of risk even in that.
But before you do any of the above or something else that is high risk, have the customer sign a liability waiver releasing you of all and any liability including financial liability should something break or get damaged.
But if you do perform some of these tasks, have the customer sign the release form, and something goes wrong...yeah you won't and can't be held liable...but you can be held morally and ethically responsible.
It's truly up to you what you want to do. But realize that if you do these items there is a lot of inherent risks.
