Opel Manta A '71 - S1 EP 21: A Pillar (A Post) Repair | PART 1

Hey everyone! Some of you have expressed a wish for more detailed and in depth technical videos so here we go! This is the first part of repairing drivers side A pillar ( A post). The videos have been filmed before my surgery so I have given them a naration (voice over) with more technical and geeky information for those hardcore automotive enthusiasts. We prepare the A pillar with bracing first - fixing movements in longitudinal direction with door braces and a tubular reinforcement in engine bay. Chassis rails that we have done in previous video hold the height of the car together with sill reinforcements and firewall insure width movements remail locked. We get rid of the rust with mechanical process (wire brushes, grinding, ...) and chemical process using rust converter. We open the A pillar up and see what it is made of and prepare for additional reinfocement and repair with fresh new sheet metal that we have protected with primer colour and red colour in hard to reach areas.

Hope you have liked this new type of more detailed videos - I am looking forward hearing your feedback car guys! Be well and see you in the next episode!

Rust converter product used in the video: NCH Europe - Chelade (Polymeric rust converter)
I have filmed a rust converter test using this produst and Wurth Rust Converter and a rust removal product and will post a video of results and recommendations in the next few episodes.
