Shane: Hi. I'm Shane with etrailer.com.Today you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to walk you through the installation on the etrailer.com trailer hitch on our 2014 Nissan Rogue. This would be a great addition to your Nissan, not only if you're one of those that maybe wants to haul small trailers, but it's going to be great for bike racks. Then I'm going to be adding a cargo carrier to get some of that luggage and stuff out from inside of your vehicle, to give you more room inside for your family. This hitch is going to give you a 2"x 2" receiver tube opening. We're going to have a reinforced collar, give us a little extra stability there. Hitch pin hole is going to be 5/8" in diameter.

It's going to take a standard 5/8 hitch pin. Hitch pin and clip does not come with this hitch. However it can be found here at etrailer.com.We're going to have rolled steel style safety chain loops. You can see the holes are very large. So it's going to accommodate several different size hooks.

Another nice thing about this hitch is the finish. It's something that I really like about it. Etrailer goes out of their way on their finish. It is a triple carbide black powder coat. This is what separates this hitch away from some of the others.

The others may just have a single coat. Again, this is triple carbide black powder coat. So it's really going to hold up well against chipping, scratching, and rust and corrosion. As far as our weight capacities go, we're going to have a 525 pound maximum tongue weight, which is the downward pressure in the inside of our receiver tube. The numbers are important. Say you have a cargo carrier on there and you have it loaded down.

You want to make sure you're not exceeding that downward pressure on that receive tube.As far as our trailer towing capacity, it's going to be 3500 pounds. So that's trailer plus the load included. So maybe you have a small boat, or maybe you have a small trailer. Again, trailer plus load included. I always recommend you never want to exceed the total carrying capacity or total towing capacity of your Nissan Rogue. Now let's give you a few measurements to help you in deciding on any hitch mount accessories you may need, such as a bike rack, ball mount, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the bumper it's going to be about 4 1/2". This number is important for any of your hitch mount accessories that may fold up against your vehicle. From the ground to the top innermost part of your receiver tube is going to be about 14 1/4". This number is important for any of your hitch mount accessories that may require more ground clearance. Now let's show you how to get this installed. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. We're going to have two underbody panels. We're going to have one here on the passenger's side and one one the driver's side that we're going to need to remove. They're held in place by some push pin fasteners. Take a flat head screwdriver. We're going to pry out the center. And we're going to pull out the base with it. And then right back here, we're going to have a plastic Phillips head screw. You just want to turn it. Go ahead and pull these out and set them aside. They will not be reinstalled. Now we're going to repeat the process for this panel on our driver's side.On our passenger's side, we're going to remove this bracket here. We're going to have two bolts on the bottom of the frame rail and two bolts on the inside. We'll use an 18mm socket to remove. For our passenger's side these two holes are on the bottom of the frame rail, where we removed our factory hardware. These are the two holes we're going to be using for our hitch. So what we want to do is we're going to take our hardware that comes with out hitch. We want to make sure even though these head bolts . We just want to take our bolt, screw it up in there just to make sure we don't have anything in the threads. We're going to do this same thing on the driver's side. So if you notice here on our driver's side. We're going to use these two and this one. You'll notice they're a little bit rusty around the edges. That's because they're open to the elements. So we're going to need to clean those out before we insert our hardware. We're going to start with some spray lubricant and a tube brush. We're going to spray it up into each hole. And that's what we want, right there. For our hardware that we're using for our hitch. As I showed you, hex bolt. And all the hardware is going to be the same. We're going to have a conical toothed washer. You're going to notice the one
