Avoid This Common Ebike Hub Motor Issue! How To Install Spacers and Washers For Hub Motors!
In this video I will show you how to properly install the washers and spacers that come with (or don't come with) your hub motor. Often times, Chinese hub motor kits are missing some important parts! If you are a first time ebike builder you may not realize that your kit isn't all that complete.
On a rear hub motor install, you need to find a spacer that will pass through your cassette locking ring and not allow the bike frame to clamp down on the lock ring. It must turn freely to avoid component wear and friction on your rear wheel assembly.
You will see in this video how you should be installing the washers and spacers that come with your ebike hub motor kit. If you are missing the spacer or do not have one you can salvage from your original wheel, try searching online for "bicycle rear hub cone" or "bicycle rear hub spacer" and you may be able to source one with the dimensions you need!
I hope this makes things clear as many videos do not cover this simple concept that may not be so obvious for first time builders.
